Guelph Telehandler Training Courses

Guelph Telehandler Training Courses

Guelph Telehandler Training Courses - The employer has the responsibility to make certain that their employees are trained to work competently with telehandler equipment. The workers need to be assessed for their ability to make use of the machine. If deficiencies are found, employers must provide training so that employees get the needed level of ability. The level of responsibility of the individual must be considered when training is provided. Effective training will solve whichever deficiencies in the knowledge, skills and understanding of telehandler supervisors and operators. Training may be undertaken through in-house session or by engaging the services of an external training provider. An assessment upon completing the training period would determine whether or not the learning objectives have been met.

State/Provincial, local and federal regulations set out guidelines for basic telehandler operator training and testing. Basic training does not deal with such topics as the lifting of suspended loads, the lifting of people, using various attachments, or the operation of rotating equipment. Further training would need to be undertaken if such tasks are required on the work location.

Inspection and maintenance
The telehandler requires routine maintenance similar to any other machinery. The machine would wear out over time, so proper maintenance is needed to ensure the safe use of the telehandler machine. Inspections and checks are important to ongoing maintenance measures. Operators must have machine-specific training to be able to rectify, monitor and prevent problems associated with deterioration, damage and wear. Staff require experience and competence in both breakdown and periodic maintenance. The manufacturer's preventative maintenance directions must be seriously viewed and followed, considering such factors as frequency of use and environmental conditions in the work setting.

The responsibility for ensuring that the telehandler and its attachments are in good working order lies with both the owner and the user of the machinery. General maintenance is usually done by the telehandler owner while pre-use checks are usually done by the user.
